Finally waded into digital modes with FLdigi, but have a K3 question
regarding Line Out control. From what I could tell from the manual, Line Out to my PC ought to be a level adjusted by Config: Line Out. However, each time I turned down the AF control, the signal to FLdigi went away. What am I missing? (I'd like to operate without the constant whine of PSK ringing in the shack.) Any help in clearing this up will be much appreciated! -- 73 de Dick, ka1oz Elecraft K3/100(K) #859 G5RV Doublet Titan-DX Vertical ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Maybe you have the audio cable connected to the phones or speaker jack on the K3, instead of line out? Or maybe you have CONFIG:LIN OUT set to =PHONES? Tap '1' to turn that off whilst in CONFIG:LIN OUT to toggle that. Or maybe the computer is actually taking audio from a microphone instead of its line in, and you're picking up the RX audio acoustically? If you clap your hands, does it make a pattern on the waterfall? ;) 73, ~iain / N6ML ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Dick, from the menu parameter section of the manual: (see second paragraph. Try tapping "1" while in the menu, at the LIN OUT parameter). LIN OUT: (NOR 010) Sets the LINE OUT level. LINE OUT connections go to PC soundcard inputs. Settings above 10 may result in overdrive of the soundcard or saturation of the KIO3's isolation transformers; monitor signals using the PC to avoid this. Note: Normally, LIN OUT sets a fixed-level receive-only output for main/sub (L/R), compatible with digital modes. Tapping 1 switches LIN OUT to =PHONES, where the line outputs match headphone audio, audio level is controlled by AF/SUB gain controls, and both RX and TX audio are available. Iain and Elecrafters--
Thank you for your responses and guidance! Iain hit the nail on the head with his third possibility...audio into a microphone! I was using a never before used sound system built-in to the motherboard and had the incorrect gain control (microphone) turned up instead of the Line In. -- 73 de Dick, ka1oz Elecraft K3/100(K) #859 G5RV Doublet Titan-DX Vertical On Sat, 2012-09-01 at 23:05 -0700, iain macdonnell - N6ML wrote: > On Sat, Sep 1, 2012 at 10:49 PM, Dick Roth--KA1OZ <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Finally waded into digital modes with FLdigi, but have a K3 question > > regarding Line Out control.
