Hello,
I am removing the antenna tuner from my K3 and would like information on how to protect the module from ESD after removing it from the transceiver. I use the wrist strap and mat, so I am talking about storage and shipment. Should I wrap it in aluminum foil before putting it in a baggie? Obviously, I didn't save the original protective bag. Any ideas? 73 and Thanks, Rick Dettinger K7MW ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I don't know of anything particularly ESD sensitive on the tuner but foil
certainly won't hurt. You are already doing the right things with the wrist strap etc. A few ESD prevention personal caveats (the proof is left to the reader): 1. Avoid Styrofoam or similar plastics like the plague. Don't even have a coffee cup on the bench. 2. Never work when the relative humidity is less than 50%. 3. Never wear silk or nylon, or other synthetic garments. Wool is not real great either. Stick to cotton. Cotton blends are OK too.de Fred, AE6QL ________________________________ From: Rick Dettinger <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Tue, May 10, 2011 2:57:44 PM Subject: [Elecraft] K3 ESD safety Hello, I am removing the antenna tuner from my K3 and would like information on how to protect the module from ESD after removing it from the transceiver.
