K3 Edit CW Memories

ni0c
I like the "Edit CW Memories" feature in the new K3 Utility.

If I understand the Help file correctly, a vertical line character
at the end of a memory entry will force the K3 to immediately
stop transmitting, thus bypassing any CW Delay selected by
the front panel knob.

However, I just tried it and it doesn't seem to work that way.
The vertical line character seems to be simply ignored.
What am I missing here?

The prosign IM (| on a computer keyboard above \ or in CW "di-di-dah-dah") was originally added for RTTY memories to truncate the 4 second RTTY diddle at the end of messages.  Prior to the K3 Utility change, the only way to enter the IM prosign was via a CW paddle input.

I could be wrong but I don't believe the prosign IM serves any function in CW mode and is simply ignored (as you stated).

Chuck,

The vertical bar (!) character replaces the IM (..--) character that
would be input using the CW paddles.
It serves no purpose in CW, but ends the transmission without the
software 4 second delay for data modes.

The K3Utility help file specifically states "immediately terminate a
*data* mode transmission"
It does not apply to CW, and has no relationship with the front panel
DELAY control.

This is correct.  The prosign is only used in conjunction with FSK-D and PSK-D
programed memories to truncate the 4-sec trailing delay.  It has no effect on
playback of CW memories.

I'll make it clearer in Help that it has no effect in CW.

Thanks!
