K3 Encoder Knob installation?

Hi all,

For reasons unknown, one of the small encoder knobs (E980088 for the high
cut filter on the front panel of my K3) broke.  Elecraft very kindly sent a
few spares.  I checked the manual for installation instructions.  They are
just supposed to be pushed on --- lining up the flat part of the shaft with
the flat part of the inside of the knob.

For whatever reason, i cannot get the replacement knobs to go on --- or at
least I am afraid of damaging the encoder because of the force needed.  All
of the replacements they sent look the same, all look right.  The
replacement is sitting about 3/8" higher (further from the panel) than the
others.

This has happened to a few other owners.  Not sure why, possibly a batch of bad knobs.  Elecraft has replaced them quickly.  You might want to replace all the knobs with the new ones sent.  That way they will all be the same height.  That's what I did.

Thanks.  I started switching and swapping, and I found 4 knobs that go all
the way on, without a lot of force.  73, Brian W3BW
