K3 Extention speaker

chris Pickett
Good Day, one and all,

I would like to see an extension speaker made by Elecraft for the K line.

I would imagine that the same chassis as the P3 could be used with different
front and back panels to save on tooling costs etc.

It would be preferable to have two off them if you are a sub rx man - just
an idea and knowing Elecraft they would include some form of DSP / NR system
similar to the highly popular British BHI units.

Just an idea - please

I'll also put in a vote for that. I won't speculate on the housing or engineering of it, but I would love to have a good pair of stereo speakers (I use split operation with the sub rx extensively) that would have good communications audio, allowing me to not have to use headphones all the time.

I've tried different speakers with the K3, but nothing that I've tried really sounds good or works well. I'm sure the people who engineered the radio could give us the best match and the best performance.

Re: K3 Extention speaker

Bill-3
I use a pair of Behringer MS40 amplified speakers. They have a small
equalizer on board - 2 inputs (K3 and computer) and are not bothered by
RF. Offer really fine arm chair copy for my use on 160/75/40 meters. I
rarely use cans - not even for CW. It is quite here in the house. Really
makes AFX shine.

Matching speaker(s) would be nice - could be in a cabinet of the P3
size. Not sure if there is a need of any additional circuitry - I am
pretty happy with what the K3 does now. Perhaps something like a
ClearSpeech???
