Windy,
The stock K3 comes with one 2.7khz filter and that's a hardware limitation. The firmware cannot help this. So, you will need a 5.0 filter (AM), a 13 filter (FM), or one of the variable hardware filters that should be available in the next couple of years from Elecraft. I use the FM filter and it may also be usable in AM transmit. I know its good for FM and SWL. I would rather not be required to buy the FM xtal filter to get the full bandwidth on AM. Will this change with future revisions? I'm a little confused....Are you saying that eventhough the display says
10kHz, it's really not unless you have the FM filter and if it's not 10kHz, then what is it if I use the 6kHz filter. If it's really not then why display it?
