[K3] FPF failed

Mike Reublin
Trying to help a friend with loading the latest firmware. I have the latest (Mac) utility and the latest firmware. The load fails at the FPF step. I've done the force procedure, no joy.

Suggestions?

Re: [K3] FPF failed

Thanks, David -

As I said, I had downloaded the latest & greatest. Even  sending the update file by file failed. K6KR suggested it may be a memory problem, and to contact Elecraft support.

Then using the Advanced tab of K3 Utility, Check the DSP1 box and click "Load checked firmware”.  When that completes, do the same for the FPF loading only that firmware.  After you do that, you can exit from the Advanced screen and the Send all Firmware to the K3.

Do you have another USB/Serial adapter to try?

Re: [K3] FPF failed

Something like this came up on the list not too long ago.  If I remember
correctly [no guarantees on anything involving the word "remember"], the
problem went something like:

There are 3 sets of firmware loads in a K3 ... MCU, FPF, and DSP [DSP
twice if you have the sub-rx].  They normally load in sequence
automatically in that order.  It is possible, but not common, that the
new FPF load begins looking for a response from the new DSP which hasn't
been loaded yet.

I believe the solution given was:  Uncheck all but the MCU and load it.
Then check only the DSP and load it.  Finally load the FPF.  Or
something like that, maybe someone else remembers this better than I do.
