And how about the way the K3 will "zero beat" itself! Wayne demo'd that at
the Thursday night gathering at FDIM. You push a button to get the tone to
match to your side-tone, turn the dial to get the two tones relatively close
in frequency, then push the button again and the K3 zero beats itself! I
realize this isn't a "I gotta have that" feature, but it's indicative of
just how feature rich the K3 is--and more to come. It prompted one guy in
the audience to ask if there was anything the K3 couldn't do!
There were lots of ideas thrown out at that demo, and many of them prompted
Wayne to indicate it was probably a "can-do" item just with some software
revisions. Interestingly though, you could almost read Eric's facial
expressions which seemed to say "Hey, let's get this thing into production
first, and do these updates later!" The point is though, that unlike the
K2, which pretty much has it's capabilities maxed out due to the amount of
memory in the firmware, the K3 apparently has a great deal of unused room
for upgrades, etc. I expect you will see the features for this radio just
grow and grow. It ought to be fun!
