I expect any such comparison to be premature. The main limitation on "fuller" audio is not being able to vary the transmit passband and I believe that feature will be added in a future firmware enhancement.
The main advantage of the 2.8 filter is probably better immunity to interference by very strong signals that are just outside of the passband due to its steeper slopes than the 2.7Khz filter.
