K3 - Firmware Download Issue

Terry Schieler
Today I decided to download the latest firmware for my P3. Perfect!  Then I
decided to download the latest K3 firmware.  When I ran K3 Utility all
seemed to go as usual.  When I clicked "Load firmware to K3" the LCD screen
on the K3 went out but I could still see MCU LD blinking in the display and
the red TX light continued to blink.  (The P3 was powered OFF).

Upon investigation, I found that the K3 source folder that I was trying to
load from was empty.  The download had apparently snuck past me to a
different location.  Now, the power switch on the K3 will not turn it off.
When I remove power from the PS and then reconnect it, the K3 goes right
back to an unlit display with MCU LD flashing and the red TX LED blinking.

Any ideas on how I can get this K3 working again?

Re: K3 - Firmware Download Issue

Dick Dievendorff
Im away from home so I'll be brief

Remove the P3 back panel power plug
Disconnect K3 power supply
Reboot PC
Connect K3 power. Do not connect P3 power.
Press K3 power button. K3 should come in without backlight LCD and MCU LD in dark letters.
Start K3 Utility
Navigate to Port tab
Press test communications.
You should see warning popup with boot loader found
Navigate to firmware tab
Browse to folder containing all firmware files.

Send all firmware

Then reconnect P3 power

These steps are in latest rev of P3 Owners manual

I'll check email again in a couple of hours

Mission accomplished, Dick!  As usual your instructions were right on. Next
time I'll remember to check for a new version P3 manual before downloading
anything new.  ;o)  Many thanks!
