The latest update is great, however I am curious as to when some of the more basic functions such as squelch, keypad beep, and ESSB TX will be enabled. I have also noticed that after the update, I can only listen out 4 KHz wide versus the prior 6 KHz with the AM filter installed. Also why not allow RX/TX passband down to 50 or so Hz? My intent is not to poke a sleeping bear, just curious. Also has anyone heard a whisper as to the availability of the DVR by field day?

We're working on all of these, Mike, along with the DVR and additional subreceiver-related firmware. > I have also noticed that after the update, I can only listen out 4 KHz > wide > versus the prior 6 KHz with the AM filter installed. I assume you're referring to SSB mode. Even though the WIDTH control went to 6 kHz in SSB modes before, the DSP was actually restricting the RX bandwidth to about 4 kHz. We'll revisit the possibility of extending the upper passband in the future. In AM modes, the WIDTH control now shows the *I.F.* DSP bandwidth (up to 10 kHz), reflecting an AM RX passband that extends up to about 5 kHz. > Also why not allow RX/TX passband down to 50 or so Hz? We actually do process signals down to this level, but further improvement is possible. It's on "the list." 73, Wayne N6KR --- http://www.elecraft.com _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi.
Nice to hear that these things are in progress. I am also awaiting my K3 to be ready including all the options I ordered (DVR etc.). I really hope that the K3 will have the possibility of extending the RX passband up to above 4kHz in SSB, this way the user is free to listen at any bandwidth he may find suitable (just like on the TEN-TEC Omni VII). I am planning on connecting two small bookshelf speakers (Proson Sat 51RR) who have excellent audio. I am currently using these on my IC-756pro3, and they sound a lot better than any amateur radio speaker. If one really wants to reveal the details in the received audio I can recommend the AKG HSD-271 headset (with dynamic microphone). These are outstanding in every way, and sounds incredibly clear and neutral. The electret mic version of these are the HSC-271. Best regards LA4AMA Roar
