When the QRQ feature was added to the firmware, certain functions were lost.
(RIT, Shift, Split, etc.) At that time, I believe the intent was to add them back on future firmware revisions. Since then I don't believe the 'add back' has been mentioned. If so, I missed it. Just wondering if/when that is going to happen? 73, Bruce - N1LN ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Bruce,
You can do SPLIT in QRQ mode, and I recommend this as an alternative to RIT, for now. 73, Wayne N6KR On Jan 28, 2011, at 8:24 AM, Bruce Meier wrote: > When the QRQ feature was added to the firmware, certain functions > were lost. > (RIT, Shift, Split, etc.) At that time, I believe the intent was > to add > them back on future firmware revisions. Wayne,
When I push the A>B button to go to Split, VFO B display says N/A QRQ. If I am in SPLIT mode and go to QRQ, my K3s (both of them) drop out of Split mode. I am running the latest firmware and have PF2 set to turn QRQ on and off. Perhaps there is some other setting I am not aware that needs to be changed. 73, Bruce -----Original Message----- From: Wayne Burdick [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Friday, January 28, 2011 11:39 To: Bruce Meier Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: K3 - Firmware question / QRQ Hi Bruce, You can do SPLIT in QRQ mode, and I recommend this as an alternative to RIT, for now. Hmm, when I "hold" SPLIT, I get the N/A QRQ message. I don't really want to use SPLIT for anything but am now curious if there is some other menu setting needed to enable SPLIT in QRQ mode?

You're right, Bruce, you can only do "implied split" in QRQ mode:
transmit on VFO A, but listen on VFO B using the sub receiver. (Just waking up, here :) In this case you don't have to activate SPLIT; just turn the sub on. Is your other VFO on the same band? If not, you have to do A>B first.
One change that I would like to see would be that if I press and hold Split, that it automatically does A>B for me since that is obviously what I want to do anyway. 73, Bob W5OV > > Hmm, when I "hold" SPLIT, I get the N/A QRQ message. Sorry - forgot - this is only when you're not in QRQ mode.
I still would like Split to do the A>B for me instead of telling me I can't do split. 73, Bob W5OV > Is your other VFO on the same band? I sure hope RIT with QRQ is in the works and not forgotten.
Even at slow speed, QSK is much better in QRQ mode. No 2nd rx here so split isn't an option. If your VFOB is set to another band, and you want it to go split, you want it set to the same band as VFOA. There's no way to know what split frequency you want to go to though - is there? Obviously, if you have your VFOB set to a frequency in the same band already it should just change you into Split mode without changing the VFOB frequency. I would hope that this moderate level of logic could be included to prevent stupid mistakes instead of forcing excess key strokes and wasting time as it does now. 73, Bob W5OV > >> One change that I would like to see would be that if I press and >> hold Split, that it automatically does A>B for me since that is >> obviously what I want to do anyway. > > Bad Idea ... Having VFO B set to another band is a user choice (VFO IND). > I would hope that this moderate level of logic could be included > to prevent stupid mistakes instead of forcing excess key strokes > and wasting time as it does now. Your change would force excess keystrokes (or knob twisting) vs. the current condition. You save one keypress (tap A>B) to synchronize VFOs when initially selecting split but cause synchronization of the VFOs every time Split is turned On/Off which results in any previously set split when for example checking another frequency/pile-up/band. If you want a function that sets split and synchronizes the VFOs, use one of the programmable (macro) keys ... there have been several examples of "quick split" macros posted. 73, ...
