Dear FM,
The upload for the new firmware makes me crazy. I get error after te DSP 02.81 version. 2 errors: ERR DSE ERR PL1 I noticed that the menu has strange letters but this is due to the fault upload from de DSP firmware. I tried different pc and have the latest version of the USB adapter. All info is welcome. 73 - Rudi - ON7CL PS: The upload from the new firmware for my KX3 was succesfull. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Rudi,
Did you look at the chart of error codes in the back of the manual and tried the correction steps given for that error? That is the first step. For ERR DSE, the correction is to reload the DSP firmware. If you tried that and obtained the same error, download a new copy of the firmware from Elecraft and try again. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/14/2013 3:43 AM, Rudi wrote: > Dear FM, > > The upload for the new firmware makes me crazy. > > I get error after te DSP 02.81 version. > > 2 errors: > > ERR DSE > ERR PL1 > > I noticed that the menu has strange letters but this is due to the fault > upload from de DSP firmware. > > I tried different pc and have the latest version of the USB adapter. > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Rudi,
I had similar issue running the firmware upgrade through my MicroHam microkeyer USB router. I am not sure if you are running your cable direct or through another system with virtual comports. Virtual comports seem to have issue with the firmware for the K3. I didn't see if you mentioned anything but a direct connection but I thought I would bring up my similar experience. > I had similar issue running the firmware upgrade through my MicroHam > microkeyer USB router. Never perform a firmware upload to *any* rig with a microHAM interface. Every microHAM Users Manual specifically states the interfaces are not to be used for firmware uploads. There are several reasons for this - some rigs require direct manipulation of RTS and/or DTR to control the upload process and microHAM does not support that or in the case of the K3, the radio resets itself in the middle of the upload process which causes a reset of the communications data parameters. > Virtual comports seem to have issue with the firmware for the K3. Like many other "RS-232" control ports, the K3 does not like signaling voltages much less than +/-10V. Many newer USB to serial adapters are being designed for "low power" operation which typically means +/- 8, 5 or even 3.3V signal levels. Measure the voltage on each of the pins of your USB to serial adapter and make sure it is not a "low power" device. 73, ... Speaking of K3 firmware. It's been 6 months since the last update. Does that mean the K3 is a mature product and all the wish list items that can be included are done? I don't have a list so I'm not sure if anything is missing.
