K3 Getting warm

VE3WDM

I was operating in the NAQP this weekend I was running QRP at 5 watts I did notice the case around the front top and both sides was warm not hot but warm. This was only around the front of the radio only was not sure if this was normal. The rig was on for about 4 hours as well.

Re: K3 Getting warm

N5GE

This is normal.  The right panel of the K3 is used as a heat sink for one of the
components (don't remember which one) and most of the heat generating components
are on the left side.  If you have the K144XV installed you will also notice
some heart at the rear left side of the K3.
