ATTENTION K3 USERS who have made, or who are about to make the HAGC
mod using through-hole (leaded) components. I (N0SS) wrote the modification documentation for this mod, so the following it my fault, not that of Elecraft. Just this afternoon, it was brought to my attention that the two LEADED resistors which are to be soldered in parallel with R41 & R2 on the K3 RF board, should be 47K 1/4W devices and NOT the 100k 1/4W devices which I specified in the documentation. The problem arose from the fact that the two resistors (R41 & R42) which were to be paralleled with leaded devices were 100K values and that the two leaded resistors paralleling them were to be 47K devices. When I wrote the docs, and laid out the illustration, I managed to reverse the values, thus showing the added resistors to be 100K instead of 47K. If you received an HACG MOD kit from Elecraft, DO NOT use the 100K 1/4W resistors contained in the package, but use 47K 1/4 devices across R41 & R42 on the K3 RF board. THIS APPLIES ONLY TO THE THRU-HOLE VERSION OF THE HAGC MOD. IT DOES _NOT_ APPLY TO THE SMD VERSION OF THE MOD. As a stop-gap, I have posted the revised docs to my web site at: http://www.n0ss.net/k3_hacg_mod_thru-hole_v1r6_rev_31mar08.pdf Note: blank spaces in the link above are filled with underscores which generally cannot be seen if your e-mail client auto-underlines links. New (revised) documentation has now been sent to Elecraft and it will be up on their web site soon. I sincerely apologize for this error and I hope it will not cause significant problems for anyone. 73, Tom Hammond N0SS _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Tom:
In my short "relationship" with Elecraft gear (K3 #77) and this reflector, it is very clear to me that the caliber of your work and contributions is SUPERB. Please, just don't transpose numbers ever again ;-)!
