K3, Ham Radio Deluxe, DM780

Alan D. Wilcox, W3DVX
Hello,

K3 working now with audio and HRD over my LAN. So far, so good, but
Digital Master 780 won't connect.

Getting same error message whether I'm at the radio end or the remote end:
Start DM780, select to configure radio, use the defaults (localhost,
7809, ckbox). Error says "no connection could be made because the target
machine actively refused it."

Sometimes I see an error msg saying to be sure the K3 is on (it is) and
"not in memory mode." (What's that?) Perhaps that plays into the
solution somehow?

Ideas?
Alan

The 'Refused' message is from Windows - the HRD IP Server is either not
started or there's a firewall in the way. DM780 can find the computer but
cannot connect to the service.

My guess - you haven't opened up a port...

Simon,
Checked again ... off the network to get this sorted out. I don't have
any ports to open
if  I'm just on the same PC as the K3.

K3 serial to PC running Win2K Pro. I invoke HRD and "Connect" to the K3,
get K3 display.

Click "Remote" and see that I've started the Remote Service (which does
seem to work remotely).

Click DM780 button, then for Radio, click "Configure" ... and get error
msg below.
(Interestingly, I see a waterfall, but the signal controls don't work.)

Alan
