K3 KPA500 clearance under shelf

Ron W3ZV
I am reconfiguring my operating position in anticipation of the arrival of a KPA500 and KAT500 to add to my K3. I plan on putting the K3 and KPA500 below a shelf and the KAT500 above. The K3 and KPA 500 will both have bales in use. The shelf is open to the rear. How much clearance would be needed to provide adequate ventilation?

Thanks
Ron W3ZV

Re: K3 KPA500 clearance under shelf

But unless you cramp the cabling, you'll want more room than 2".  By the
time you get the interconnect cables, antenna cables, power cords, audio
cords, bug and key cables and who know what else, it gets pretty darned busy
back there.

My K line is on my dining room table (advantage of living alone) and all
that uses up a foot or so, even if I make loops of the excess cabling.

It also states in the KAT500 manual that the tuner can be placed on top or
under the KPA500 and also several times here on the reflector.
