Possibly the best option for the K3 (beyond a good set of filters) has to
be the KRX3 sub receiver, in my opinion. I have found this especially helpful in quickly and easily finding the worked station for split operations. With all of the W1AW/x operations this year--most of them running split--being able to listen to them in one ear and search for the portion of the band "up" where they are working has been an invaluable time saver and increased my successful QSO rate. It's the same case when DX stations are calling on one frequency and listening elsewhere. I can just quickly tune the sub and find the QSX frequency within 2-3 calls usually. Win! It was a tough decision for me when I was building my K3 system. I wasn't sure if I wanted to choose the P3 or the KRX3 (and I couldn't afford both). I went with the KRX3 and feel like I made the right decision for me. What a great accessory! 73 -john W4PAH Madison, WI ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |

When I purchased my K3 I also ordered the sub receiver, all was good.
Then I ordered a P3 recently. What a lethal combination for working split operation dxpeditions. The sub receiver is absolutely great, the P3 add's the visual side of things and makes it even better. If I could have only one of the two it would be the sub receiver, however, lately I've been just using the P3 for working split which is very effective. Perhaps, I would like to share some experience.
I set VFO A&B 'LINK' and use both main and sub receivers receiving the same frequency. Even both receivers are using the same 'main' antenna, I notice a much earier copying of the signal. By turning and balancing the outer and inner knob of the AF control, I can find a sweet splot for my ear listening and hence easier copying. I cannot explain this within my limited radio knowledge but it does help me a lot. 73 Johnny VR2XMC ________________________________ 寄件人︰ Richard Thorne <[hidden email]> 收件人︰ [hidden email] 傳送日期︰ 2014年04月18日 (週五) 10:31 PM 主題︰ Re: [Elecraft] [K3] KRX3 rave When I purchased my K3 I also ordered the sub receiver, all was good.
