K3 KXV3A RX Ant

k5oai
I have not yet installed a KXV3A, however I have been trying to read the manual,
but am still confused on this point:

If I have *ONLY* the K3 with the main receiver, with the KATU3,
does that mean I could connect one antenna for strictly TX,
or even a TX/RX antenna to,
either the Ant1 (or Ant2) connection on the KATU3

and then connect a different RX (only) antenna
to the KXV3A RX Ant IN connection

now here is the point of my confusion.....

does this mean when I key the K3 to transmit
it automatically switches to the TX antenna
and when I (or the vox) unkeys the K3
then the K3 automatically switches to the RX (only) antenna?

or do I maybe have to have the KRX3 second receiver installed
to have what I am wanting to do above?

Re: K3 KXV3A RX Ant

Tom Williams-4
Sam,

You understand it correctly; TX or TX/RX antennas on ANT1 and ANT2, a RX only antenna on RX ANT IN. Selection of ANT1 and ANT2 by the front panel ANT switch, and enabling of the RX antenna by the front panel RX ANT switch. The K3 does the rest.

Yes. To listen on the RX antenna, tap RX ANT (the icon will turn on).

If you're on a band other than 6M, does the 6M preamp turn on?
