Regarding the earlier discussion, if anyone is interested in a homebrew,
sub-5 ounce (142g) keyer paddle that absolutely does not "walk" around
the desk, see:

I built it many years ago and just recently came across my old drawings.

I like the idea of the mounting plate to keep it stable.  I think I  
will add something like that to my White Rook paddle (I really don't  
like having to use my left hand for that purpose).
