K3; Main menu and Config menu settings

Richard Fjeld
I recently downloaded the files N7US made of the K3 Main menu and Config menu.  If you haven't done so, I suggest you download them from the Elecraft files.  They show the Default, and N7US settings, with good explanations of what each item does.

Also, there has been past questions posted about how to list, and save, your settings.  Of course, the K3 utility will save them to reload if needed which is valuable.

As was pointed out, K3-EZ will display them, but a screen capture will be needed to save them.

HRD (Ham Radio Deluxe) will display them nicely, and changes can be made on screen, and/or saved. To do this, (per my version) you click on 'Tools' at the top of the screen. In the window that opens, scroll down near the bottom and select 'Extended menus'. A small window opens and select 'Elecraft'.  It takes a few seconds to display as it scans your settings.

When the screen lists all your settings, I call your attention to the yellow info icon at the bottom with the note that says "Changes are applied immediately".  I have not tried making changes this way, yet.

Click on 'Text' at the top.  A window opens and you will have four choices.  I prefer 'Text, no border' but YMMV.  Also put a check mark in the 'View File' box. From there, it will display all in Notepad where you will have options to Save, Print, etc.

Rich, n0ce

Re: K3; Main menu and Config menu settings

N7US
From my post of 21-Jan:

I added a tab for P3 menus to my Excel file of K3 main and config menus.  I
just copied and pasted the material from the current manual to enable an
owner to record the menu selections used without needing a paper copy.  I
added a row for the new menu items that aren't included yet in the current
(Rev. C) manual.

Just re-title the "N7US" column of each tab/worksheet with your call and
enter your own choices if different than the default.

The new file and the original one are in the Files area of the Yahoo
Elecraft_K3 reflector:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Elecraft_K3/files/

I don't know why the Excel icon isn't next to the file name of the new file
but it can be downloaded OK.

I have downloaded and updated Jim's spreadsheet with my own K3 settings. An
awful lot of work went into the generation of this file and Jim, it is
greatly appreciated!

Might it be useful to also make it available somewhere where it doesn't

One can join the Yahoo group and not get any addition email. Just join
the list and select to receive message via the "web only." Very easy.

I'm glad others could use it.  I used similar spreadsheets for Yaesu radios
I've had.

It really wasn't that much work, just copying and pasting from the manuals.
I did ask Eric before I posted it originally since it's Elecraft's
copyrighted manuals that I copied.

I used to get paid for using Excel; now I do it for recreation!
