Matt, Here are the firmware rev's: MCU 3.41, FPF 1.04, DSP 2.37. Several additional pieces of information I have found. In addition to the menu situation as mentioned, when changing modes the mode will not change from CW. Remember you need to go through CW to get from DATA to USB/LSB or vice versa. The problem only occurs when MMTTY is open and the radio is set to FSK D. The situations do NOT occur with Radio Command port set to None (no radio command) nor in other data modes. I have tried MMVARI and Hamscope and it doesn't happen with them but they don't do FSK RTTY. I have a straight through cable from COM 1 on my PC to the RS-232 on the K3 for radio command. For FSK RTTY I have a home brew cable with level converters from COM 4 on the PC to the ACC port on the radio. FSK=TXD DB9-3 (PC) to DB15-1, PTT=DB9-7(PC) to DB15-4. Ground =DB9-1 to DB15-5/12. There are two level converters. One each for FSK and PTT and they are in the back shell of the DB9 connector. Each lev el converter is a 1k ohm resister from the respective DB9 pin to the base of a 2N3904 transistor. The collectors go to their respective pin on the DB15. Both emitters are tied to the ground pins on each connector. FSK RTTY works fine with MMTTY using FSK D on the radio. It's just that the radio gets hung up in the two area mentioned above when radio command is on. I'll try to do some experimenting with radio command to see if there is something that can be changed that will eliminate the situations. Hope the additional information is helpful to anyone trying to duplicate the situation. Have a good day and 73. No one can confirm your result without a rev # for the firmware. It may be revision-dependent and probably was eliminated some time ago. 73, matt W6NIA K3 #24 On Tue, 27 Oct 2009 01:38:55 +0000, you wrote: > >Hi, > >Just discovered something that doesn't seem right. I had issues with yesterday's update and did a radio shut down restart. All cured. Jim,
This is a bit of a stab in the dark, and may or may not have anything to do with what is happening to you, but exactly how many methods are you using to do PTT? It sounds as if you may have two or perhaps even three methods enabled simultaneously, which is not a good idea and might be contributing to the problem by confusing the firmware somehow if the hardware and software commands are getting crossed due to slight timing differences. 1) MMTTY is controlling PTT on DTR/RTS on COM4, which you have connected to the PTT pin on the ACC connector via a keying circuit. 2) You are using MMTTY's Radio command, which means MMTTY will be sending TX; and RX; commands over COM1 unless you have deliberately blanked out the RX and TX boxes in the Commands pane of the MMTTY Radio command dialog box. 3) If you happen to have the PTT box checked for DTR/RTS in the MMTTY Radio command dialog (top right), MMTTY is also controlling DTR/RTS on COM1, and if you have the K3's CONFIG:PTT-KEY set to anything other than OFF-xxx, this would also be commanding the K3's PTT on and off. Since you have method 1 implemented via the ACC connector, you don't really need MMTTY's Radio command at all, at least not for purposes of PTT. If you are using Radio command in order to get radio frequency information into MMTTY for logging purposes, you might consider: (a) unchecking the PTT box for DTR/RTS in the MMTTY Radio command dialog box; and if this doesn't work or it is already unchecked (b) clearing out the contents of the Rx and Tx commands in the MMTTY Radio command dialog box in order to stop MMTTY from trying to control PTT via software. Hope this helps. 73, Rich VE3KI ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
