With the expected wide range of ROOFING, and GC
filters to be offered for the K3 - how many filter spots are available, to physically install filters into the K3? Can we have a GC, ROOFING CW, ROOFING FM, and ROOFING SSB - or GC/SSB/CW/FM filters all concurrently installed somewhere inside the K3, at the same time? Or will it be an either/or? If we buy 3 of them, can we use all 3 at the same time? (GC, CW, SSB) In a IC-706MKIIG - one gets the supplied IF Roofing Filter, and there are pcb spots for a CW and a SSB filter - all at the same time. Then, Icom's firmware knows about all 3 of them. Fred,
Each receiver has 5 crystal IF filter slots. When shipped, a 2.7 kHz filter is included, leaving 4 more slots available. This includes the main receiver and the optional subreceiver as they are of the same design. These IF crystal filters are not mode dependent...meaning you can choose any filter for any mode. The filters installed on the main RX also share transmit duty as well. Filters on the optional subreceiver are ONLY for receive. The KBPF3 bandpass filter for improved general coverage receive does NOT take up one of the crystal IF slots and is only inline when you tune outside the ham bands. Once you are back inside the ham bands it is switched out and the ham specific BANDPASS filters are switched back in. Remember I'm talking bandpass filters and NOT the crystal IF roofing filters here. The roofing filters can be chosen in any mode and on any frequency and work in combination with the DSP IF and DSP AF filtering. Hope this answers your questions and thanks for asking. 73 Greg AB7R On Fri, 11 May 2007 14:36:35 -0700 (PDT) "Fred (FL)" <[hidden email]> wrote: > With the expected wide range of ROOFING, and GC > filters to be offered for the K3 - how many filter > spots are available, to physically install filters > into the K3?
