I'm trying to figure out if my K3 NB has an issue or if I'm expecting too much. I have my K3 connected to an LP-Pan and running Power SDR IF. On the Power SDR waterfall if I find a weak conversation that shows up in heavy noise I put on the NB in Power SDR IF and the conversation become intelligible with low noise. Not perfect but I can understand the QSO.
That same conversation is not easily detected with the K3 by itself. I may hear the strongest signal in that QSO letting me know something is there but it is buried in noise. I found if i shut the AGC off I may notice others in the conversation but still they are still unintelligible. If I turn the NB on it may remove a very tiny bit of noise, but it is barely noticeable what is removed. I have tried all the NB IF and DSP setting by themselves and in combination. I have also tried a variety of gain settings, filters, etc. I also tried some of the NR setting but to me it makes the audio "fish bowl" sounding to my ears and it does not solve the issue.
The noise can be atmospheric or man made. I have tried a variety of tests and each time the Power SDR NB clears up the conversation and the K3 has static. The K3 seems to receive fine otherwise just not under weak and noisy conditions. I have all the latest firmware/DSP loaded from Elecraft. Any help is appreciated.
