What sort of acknowledgement can I expect for my K3 order placed last

WILLIS COOKE
Lisa will send you an email acknowledging you order.
I am surprised you haven't received it already.

Re: New Orders

Jerry Keller (K3BZ)
I imagine they have so many new orders that mine is just one of the bunch.
They'll probably get around to it in time... I was just wondering if they
acknowledge them by individual email, or maybe I had to go to some website
page and look up the status. I've heard something about a status page where
you can check... is that true?

Re: New Orders

Mark Bayern
You should receive an email acknowledging your order. (At least I
received one for my order.)

The status page you have heard of is probably the now famous (or
infamous?) shipping status page:
<http://www.elecraft.com/elecraft_shipping_status.htm>

It will give you an idea how many months you have to wait to get your
own K3. You will quickly see that it says, "New K3 orders are now
targeted for May delivery". Keep in mind that that is just an
estimate. While the Elecraft guys are great at designing radios, and
great at customer support, they have had some problems recently with
forecasting the future. You can get an idea about some the problems by
noting the comment on the KFL3B-FM filter, and Wayne's note on the
delay of the KRX3.

New Orders

Matt Zilmer
I will point out once again that Elecraft have improved their shipping
rate vs. orders invoiced, by orders of magnitude during the last
several months.  If you are in a similar industry and/or  understand
small companies, you may actually appreciate this and the difficulties
they have gone through.  If not, too bad for you.

Everybody wins now.  This is a good thing.  :)  Live long and DX! This
may well be the best radio you've ever been the owner/operator of!

I'm not affiliated with Elecraft, just a fan.

RE: New Orders

Mike Short
The thing people forget is that YaeComWood, TenTec, etc have much deeper
pockets and more resources. Borrowing a few million for them is no big deal,
but a substantial risk for a company of Elecraft's size. If a product does
not do well, there is less impact on the bottom line. The other companies
also have many more models to spread the pain over, as well as other
divisions that can contribute resources to development. You don't generally
hear about a product too much until it is ready to launch, and units are
already built and often on the way to dealers. You also get them with all
the warts that were deemed not worth fixing right away, as the early
adopters can beta test. (Just a generalization, not aimed at any specific
company) Sure there have been manufacturing problems, etc. Since they don't
own the plant, but have to contract it out, a lot of control is lost.
Elecraft's high standards are not easy to meet, causing further delays.

If I had the money in May or any time after, I would have gladly paid a
deposit and waited. (I know, easy for me to say) I seriously considered
liquidating my equipment to do that very thing, but did not. In hind sight,
I should have, since I have been too busy to do any serious operating
anyway. I would now have a K3...

RE: New Orders

WILLIS COOKE
Why all this again?  Jerry just wanted to be sure that
his order was properly placed to get into the Que.
