K3 Out of Warranty Repairs

My thanks to Keith Trinity, WE6R at Elecraft support.  On Sunday 11/25 I
sent an email to Elecraft support describing a problem with the K3.  I
received the first response from Keith early Monday.  After the next
exchange of emails Monday afternoon, Keith had diagnosed the problem and put
two MOSFETs in the mail.  Failed part was Q4 on the LPA board.  I only
needed one MOSFET and have the other for a spare.

 

K3 is back in operation, good as new.

 

Charge for this 'Out of Warranty' support?  $0.00.

I too have found the Elecraft tech support to be what I would provide
were the company under my say-so. Before I bought my K3 kit &
Kaboodles, I researched who had the best support of all the
manufacturers world wide and Elecraft came up as the then current
go-to choice. O ordered about every option on the roster and I have
had one issue that required tech support with hardware repair and it
was done well, with attention to detail and worth every cent. Instead
of raking me over the coals to extract every penny, they gave me the
most fair deal I could have hoped for.

Someday there will be a K4 or the equivalent and I'll be in line for
that too.
