When I spin the VFO on my K3, the "grass" on the P3 increases in amplitude and also moves up the screen both.

Hi Mike,
Not normal. You may need to perform the K3 VFO noise mod. I had P3 "grass" on 6 meters and the mod corrected the problem. http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/K3_vfo_noise_mod_Rev_C.pdf 73, Mike K2MK

This happens when averaging is turned on in tracking mode. Whenever the
VFO is tuned more than about 1 pixel on the P3 screen the averaging is reset to avoid "smearing" of the spectrum display. Two of the nicest features of the P3 are the Fixed Tune Mode and Averaging. Both are always turned on in my P3s, and I set averaging for the longest time. The combination of these two features makes it much easier to find signals in a band without much activity, and to distinguish signals from noise. 73, Jim K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thanks Mike, Alan & Jim
I've never noticed any audio glitches like that bulletin describes. The K3 is enroute to Watsonville, so I'll ask them to check it. I'm not sure if you and Alan are talking about the same thing, but if so, y'all seem at odds. 73, Mike NF4L On Dec 6, 2013, at 2:46 PM, Mike K2MK <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi Mike, > > Not normal. > > You may need to perform the K3 VFO noise mod.
