I have a K3 / 10 that I built last December. 800 CW QSOs and 9 recent PSK QSOs. Firmware is version 4.22
I set up PSK according to the instructions on the Elecraft web site. Other than setting vox gain to 2, from 1, I had no problem getting on PSK. I did nine PSK QSOS and now this: Clicking on CQ in DigiPan gives me just one bar of power, power set for 12, and no ALC bars. This had worked fine before. Going to Tune, on the K3, gives me five power bars, tune set for five watts, and four ALC bars Going to Transmit, on the K3, gives me one power bar and no ALC bars. Any Suggestions? Mark, NØOKS |
Mark,
Can you transmit OK in SSB mode? If so, the audio level is your problem. You can check in TX TEST so you generate no RF. Adjust the audio level from your soundcard (and/or the Line-in level on the K3) to produce 4 bars with the 5th one flickering on the ALC meter (that is the no-ALC level for the K3, ALC begins with the 5th bar.) Once you have done that, adjust the K3 power with the power knob. Do not try to operate the K3 as you may have done with other transceivers - that is adjusting the RF level with the audio drive. Fo the K3, set the audio drive, and adjust the power with the power knob. You will get power creep if you use the audio to adjust the power. If you have an interface device between the soundcard and the K3 Line-in, make sure the interface is set for line level output - most default to mic level out which is much smaller than line level. 73, Don W3FPR On 7/14/2011 4:58 PM, N0OKS wrote: > I have a K3 / 10 that I built last December. 800 CW QSOs and 9 recent PSK > QSOs. "Sometimes" computers do things their own way. Double check that your sound card selection has not changes. Also make sure your data selection on the K3 is set properly
