Hi Guys,
When operating SSB, about a month ago my Foot switch cable to the K3 "PTT IN" on the rear panel quit working. I tried a second foot switch that I know is good, and that one won't key the K3 in SSB mode either. I'm wondering if the K3 has an internal Menu setting that deactivates the rear panel PTT IN jack? Sure would like to get my foot switch once again. Thanks, Dick- K9OM ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Dick,
Eliminate the foot switches from suspicion with a simple test that you can do with your DMM. Set the DMM to ohms and check the resistance between the tip and shell of the RCA plug. When you depress the foot switch, the resistance should be quite close to zero. Yes, it is not probable, but entirely possible that you could have 2 faulty footswitches. The simple test mentioned above should resolve that question. If the footswitches prove good, an email to [hidden email] is in order to do further troubleshooting. It could be just a matter of a faulty jack on the K3. There is no menu entry that will change the behavior of the PTT input. Until this is resolved, you can use the XMIT button on the K3 to transmit or set the K3 to use VOX. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/5/2013 7:55 PM, [hidden email] wrote: > Hi Guys, > > When operating SSB, about a month ago my Foot switch cable to the K3 "PTT > IN" on the rear panel quit working. If I am not mistaken, there is also PTT signal in the ACC socket pin 4.

...and also on the front panel MIC connector. You might have a female
connector lying around or even a left-over Heil adapter with the right connections. 73, /Rick N6XI On Mon, Oct 7, 2013 at 3:53 AM, Igor Sokolov <[hidden email]> wrote: > If I am not mistaken, there is also PTT signal in the ACC socket pin 4. > > 73, Igor UA9CDC > -- Rick Tavan N6XI Truckee, CA ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
