K3 PTT in SSB with CW-Key?

oe9fwv

I would like to use my CW key to key the transmitter in SSB mode.
This is very handy in the K2 when I use the Heil headset and don't want to
use the vox.
Is this already possible with the K3?
If not please put it on the wishlist.

Plug your key into the KEY jack, next to the
PADDLE jack.  Or plug a footswitch or handswitch into the KEY jack.

It would be nice to be able to use CW paddle plugged into paddle jack.
Just like in K2.

It does not work neither in KEY nor in PADDLE.
Both lines are inactive in SSB mode. Whom can I bother to put it on the
wishlist?

Re: K3 PTT in SSB with CW-Key?

Ken Wagner K3IU
I would like to add my opinion to this issue... just in case anyone is
keeping score :-) .

I would recommend that this NOT be incorporated into the K3. There are
at least 4 places that I'm aware of on the existing K3 where PTT can be
manually asserted while in SSB mode. On the Front Panel one may tap the
XMIT button; the MIC connector has a PTT pin for access; on the back
panel there is an input jack for an external switch for asserting PTT;
and the Accessory port on the back has a pin dedicated to PTT. It would
seem to me that 4 different input locations are enough and that the
paddle/key inputs should NOT be used for a PTT function. Even though
we've been assured that there is plenty of memory available in the K3
for doing wonderful things,  it is finite.

Ken K3IU

I wonder if the suggestion was intended to be use the PTT jack on the
rear - but it's an RCA socket.

maybe. I could use an RCA Adapter and plug in the Key there, but this is
inconvenient to always change the jack. The best would be to convince the
firmware programmer that we need the PTT function of the paddle and key
jack in SSB.

I guess my first question is - why do you want this - is it to put the
rig into Tx when using the mic and the second question is what kind of
