P.S. The filters retail for $145 each + S&H, with S&H being as follows ...
o Domestic = $6 o Canada & Mexico = $14 o All other international destinations (one or two filters) = $18 o All other international destinations (more than two filters) = $34 73, Gary KI4GGX (webmaster) ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Out of curiosity, what would one use or need a 700hz filter for?

I use mine for digital modes. There are times where a 500 hz could be too
narrow. That is the reason I purchased mine. ~73 Don KD8NNU -.- -.. ---.. -. -. ..- -----Original Message----- From: John_N1JM Sent: Sunday, January 27, 2013 9:08 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] [K3] RE: Custom 700 Hz 8-Pole K3 Filters (by INRAD) Out of curiosity, what would one use or need a 700hz filter for? 73, John N1JM Gary W. Hmm, wouldn't the DSP filter be good enough for this purpose?
Except for obnoxious PACTOR, there are generally not the 40db over S9 signals to reject. 73 de Brian/K3KO On 1/27/2013 14:17, KD8NNU wrote: > I use mine for digital modes. Thanks for the response. I guess I don't do enough digital modes to think
about that. Usually 500 or ssb/dsp filter is good for me. 73, John N1JM On Sun, Jan 27, 2013 at 7:17 AM, KD8NNU <[hidden email]> wrote: > I use mine for digital modes. In theory yes. But there can be a lot of signals in the IF and if you
struggling to get a weak one out then the RX is better with a narrow filter. I don’t know the math behind this or the electronic design details but I can tell its better by my decodes after I added the filter. It is the same reason that last year at Dayton after a discussion with Wayne I also purchased a 200hz filter. ~73 Don KD8NNU -.- -.. ---.. -. -. ..- -----Original Message----- From: Brian Alsop Sent: Sunday, January 27, 2013 9:30 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] [K3] RE: Custom 700 Hz 8-Pole K3 Filters (by INRAD) Hmm, wouldn't the DSP filter be good enough for this purpose? I find the main benefit during contests for S&P and for simplex Dx pileups. Using them with Lo-High adjustment gives results, especially since I don't have a directional antenna.
They are not a cure-all, but they are helpful. Of course the DSP cannot do everything by itself or there would be no need for filters for CW. 73, Scott AA0AA Sent from my iPhone On Jan 27, 2013, at 8:08, John_N1JM <[hidden email]> wrote: > Out of curiosity, what would one use or need a 700hz filter for? > > 73, John N1JM > > > Gary W.
