I'm getting ready to upgrade my K3 with the audio mod and the ALC mod. I've
found the front panel L4 mod also for the RF feedback problem, so I'll go ahead and do that at the same time. Is the KIO3 L7 mod an official K3 mod (also for RF feedback)? I haven't found anything about this on the website. Is this recommended? Directions are being written up for posting soon. Yes, if you are already doing these mods on your K3, the L7 bypass on the audio daughterboard is "approved." 73, Lyle KK7P _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Phil,
I don't know if it is 'official' or not, but I would highly recommend you jumper KIO3 L7. An RF Choke in the signal return path is just asking for the return lead to respond to many forms of noise (including RF) and couple it into the circuit. 73, Don W3FPR Phil & Debbie Salas wrote: > I'm getting ready to upgrade my K3 with the audio mod and the ALC > mod. Is this recommended? ---------------------------- Well, we have this message to go by: > Is remove of L4 on the front panel board and L7 on the > KIO3 audio board > "official" Elecraft modifications? Bypassing these two inductors will not impact your warranty. 73, Lyle KK7P ----------------------------------- By the way, I found an easy way to do the L4 deal. If you remove the left side panel of the K3, you can reach in and ground pin 7 of the mic socket to a little terminal on the board marked "gnd" with a piece of wire, and save the trouble of removing the front panel board. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
