K3 RTC - Battery and more

Don Rasmussen
> After that, it looks like the radio "keeps time" all
by itself using internal software routines... This is
is what I gather from watching the time while messing
with the radio. It seems that it does not look at the
real time clock chip again, UNLESS you change bands,
or power off and on again.

Oh bugger - I only find this out AFTER receiving my K3
and performing inventory. Now I have to pack it all up
and ship it back. I cannot accept delivery of the K3
in this dreadful condition. ;-)

Right, yes I see that now, in fact, it drifts out
quite a lot if you don't
change band. Since I posted, and had left it on one
band, it had drifted 30
seconds in 1 hour.

For a nominal fee I can arrange for the environmentally sound disposal
of any unwanted K3's

Don‘t complain. Nobody will understand. Or care. And certainly don‘t try
to fix the situation yourself. It‘s dangerous. Leave it to a highly
untrained, unqualified, expendable professional.
