Hi Gang
Have just worked VQ9LA on 15m RTTY in DATA MD, FSK D. 45 bps it decodes very well, using my Morse key. I tried working him for 10 minutes with 100w, he then works me and told me I'm in reverse mode and he twigged as he knew I was calling so he went reverse his end and worked me. I have not selected reverse mode on my K3 The radio is in DATA and LSB. After the qso I pressed the MODE button and noticed that CW was in REV ie rev cw, would this throw the RTTY into reverse mode. Any suggestions!! Thanks Ken..G0ORH ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Ken,
If you were receiving him OK, your sideband selection was correct. However, you said you were using FSK D data mode. The polarity of your transmitted signal depends not only on the sideband you have selected, but also depends on the setting of CONFIG: FSK POL. If you have that parameter set to "0", the transmit signal will be inverted. The setting of CW rev is independent of DATA mode settings. 73, Don W3FPR On 9/12/2010 6:13 AM, ken chandler wrote: > Hi Gang > > Have just worked VQ9LA on 15m RTTY in DATA MD, FSK D. 45 bps it decodes very > well, using my Morse key. > > I tried working him for 10 minutes with 100w, he then works me and told me > I'm in reverse mode and he twigged as he knew I was calling so he went > reverse his end and worked me. > > I have not selected reverse mode on my K3 > > The radio is in DATA and LSB. > > After the qso I pressed the MODE button and noticed that CW was in REV ie > rev cw, would this throw the RTTY into reverse mode. > > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Hi Don
You are correct. After chk'g config fsk pol it was indeed set to zero ie for reverse mode, have now re-set to one (1) Thanks you. I was bitten by this too when I tried to send RTTY this way. I guess zero is actually the default. Is there any reason the firmware couldn't select the polarity automatically to match that used by the decoder? Julian, G4ILO

Actually "1" is the default - see the menu description in the manual. 73, Don W3FPR On 9/12/2010 3:38 PM, Julian, G4ILO wrote: > > Ken Chandler wrote: >> Hi Don >> You are correct. >> After chk'g config fsk pol it was indeed set to zero ie for reverse mode, >> have now re-set to one (1) >> >> Thanks you. >> > I was bitten by this too when I tried to send RTTY this way.
