K3 RX only in port - still confused?

Dave G4GED
Hi guys
I'm another prospective buyer for the K3 but a newbie to this list.

I've searched the archieves and altho' this subject has been touched on
before, I'm afraid I'm still confused by all the options that's been
described.

Simply put, my primary initial use for the K3 would be for 160m DXing using
seperate RX antennas, so an RX-only i/p port is essential.

Please dont confuse me with too many fancy options. If I order the basic
unit+ Sub rcvr, what's the  minimum accessory  I need to order to provide a
RX-only i/p port function for the use intended above?

BTW, The sooner the K3 Manual is released, the better!

Many thanks in advance
73 Dave

K3 subreceiver's aux RF input *can* be used in the absence of a KXV3 or KAT3

Hi Dave,

The subreceiver can get its signal from either the main RF path (shared
with the main receiver), or via its aux RF input jack (on the
subreceiver PCB).

Normally, the unused antenna jack on the KAT3 is routed to this input.
But if you don't have the antenna tuner, you can still route the
subreceiver's aux RF input to a BNC connector on the rear panel called
"AUX".

A few operators have told us that they might prefer to use this method
for obtaining an RX-only input port, rather than install the ATU. We
may at some point supply a special cable for this purpose. You could
also install any ordinary panel-mount BNC connector, if you have one,
and attach the sub's supplied aux RF cable to it.

If you don't need dual receive -- just an RX-only input to use with the
main receiver when in receive mode -- the KXV3 would provide it.
