K3 SN#4669 arrived today

Linda and Bob
My K3 arrived today. I noticed that the MAIN VFO tuning knob is a little stiff for my liking. I also hear a rubbing sound behind the knob, but in front of the Plexigals panel. Is there any easy adjustment to allow the knob to spin more freely?  Is there a drag tension control somewhere? All of my ICOM radio have adjustments for tension.

I believe there is a "felt" pad behind the main VFO knob as well as the SUB VFO knob. The SUB VFO knob turns more easily. There is a slight rubbing sound behind the SUB VFO also.

P 48 of the manual will tell how to adjust the main VFO tension. The sub vfo
has a couple of allen screws that can be loosened to adjust the knob
accordingly.

  Bob,

Yes, there is an adjustment - there is a felt washer behind the knob,
and a new felt washer may have "whiskers" that will produce a slight
rubbing sound - that will go away as the felt washer "wears in".

Normally the knob adjustment will be correct if you loosen the
setscrews, set the K3 on its "tail" and then drop the knob onto its
shaft by its own weight and tightening the knob.  It that produces too
much tension for you, then you are free to adjust it to your liking -
the knob further away from the panel, the less the tension, it is just
like the Yaesu adjustment and is covered in the manual on page 48.
