K3, SignaLink USB & HRD

Bryon
I've been using HRD and my SignaLink with an Icom radio. I recently upgrade
to a K3 and got everything hooked back up with the new cables. PTT
connector on the SignaLink cable is also hooked up to the rear panel.

I send just find, PTT on the SignaLink comes on, the Radio TX light comes
on it sends the SignaLink PTT light goes off and the radio stays in TX. I
can then hit XMIT and it stops.

Any suggestions?

Try using the serial port to set PTT instead of the SignaLink.  Ignore what
the HRD help file says about using the SignaLink PTT and use the serial PTT
for digital modes and CW (KY Cmd) for CW.

If sending digital in HRD, pressing the F1 key enables the transmitter until
ESCape or F2 AND no more data.  F2 goes to receive at the end of the data
(empty buffer).

This happens when the K3 is receiving PTT from both the Signalink and the software at more or less the same time.   Do what Rick WA6NHC suggested and just have HRD trigger send & receive via the K3 commands, *OR* have the Signalink do it via the PTT plug on the back of the K3, but NOT both.

I use FLDigi, but I had the exact same problem.  You need to disconnect
the PTT jumper inside the SignaLink.  It's easier to just disconnect the
PTT connector from the back of the radio if you don't need it.  I needed
my PTT lead for an external KAM+.

For PTT, you need to use the program.  I'm not sure how HRD does it, but
I have successfully made WL2K and JT65-HF key my K3 without the PTT
jumper inside the SignaLink.
