K3 Slow AGC Recovery

During the IARU (CW only) contest I noticed very slow
AGC recovery on my
K3 - only when tuning by my neighbor (1500 watts, 1
mile away).  He was
full scale on the  meter.

My AGC settings are
  PLS off
  SLP 13
  THR 3
  --F  200

Did I miss another AGC setting?  Never noticed this
with my IC7800 or MP.
