I recently assembled the K3 with just the ATU as an added option no sub rcv. In trying to run in SPLIT mode SSB I set the VFO A for my RCV of the DX station I am trying to work and VFO B to the frequency I need to transmit on. I seem to be transmitting on the VFO B frequency and I hear the DX station operating SPLIT on the VFO A frequency. When I key my mic I do not see the VFO B frequency displayed which is the frequency I am transmitting on I just see the VFO A rcv frequency. On other rigs I have owned I always see the transmit frequency when operating split. Am I missing something or is this not an option of the K3 without the sub receiver? I looked through the operation manual but "I" didn't find any reference to the display I am looking for. Any help or direction is appreciated.

Hi Joe:
Sounds like you have tapped the DISP button so that the VFO B freq is NOT shown on the display. If you tap the DISP button, the VFO B freq will be displayed and if you are in split mode, the TX arrow will be pointing to B indicating that is the freq that you will transmit on. The VFO A display will not change in split mode to the TX freq, since it is already shown on the display. 73, Ken K3IU ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On 1/28/2012 4:40 PM, ke2sk wrote: > I recently assembled the K3 with just the ATU as an added option no sub rcv. > In trying to run in SPLIT mode SSB I set the VFO A for my RCV of the DX > station I am trying to work and VFO B to the frequency I need to transmit > on. Thanks Ken, yes I hit the DISP button and I see the VFO B displayed as when I initially set it. I guess I got accustomed to using rigs that when you keyed the mic in SPLIT mode the frequency you were transmitting on came up as the main display. This will wok it's just different to me and not what I was expecting. I would still prefer it to work that way but it's not that big a deal.
Thanks for the response! 73 Joe KE2SK |
