K3 - SteppIR - KPA500 interconnection

David Bushinsky
Goal is to not allow the KPA500 to transmit until the SteppIR controller has finished tuning.

The SteppIR controller, with the tuning relay option, has a stereo plug input, the K3 and KPA500 both have RCA plug inputs.  My thought is to get a shielded audio cable with a stereo plug and two RCA plugs (common cable to power an audio system from an ipod).  One RCA plug into the K3 PTT, one RCA plug into the KPA500 and the stereo plug into the SteppIR controller.  Once the SteppIR has finished tuning it will close the connection on the PTT line allowing the KPA500 to transmit.

I think it should work but have yet to try it.  Thoughts?

That is exactly how the tuning relay works.  It interrupts the ptt line
so the amp cannot key while the SteppIR is moving.  N8LP also makes a
box for those that do not have the new controller that will do the same
thing.
