K3 TCXO

Kjeld Holm
Hello all,

A simple question I hope: How do I see whether my K3 has the KTCXO3-1 High
Stability Reference Oscillator installed or not?

I believe I ordered this add-on for my factory built K3 but now I am not
sure.

Thank you in advance.

OZ1CCM, Kjeld

  Kjeld,

It should be listed on your invoice.
If the paperwork with your K3 included a calibration data chart, you
have the KTCXO3-1 - there is no calibration data chart for the stock TCXO.

If you have misplaced your invoice and/or calibration data sheet, an
email to [hidden email] may be able to obtain a copy of those
documents - I recall that the calibration data was being kept on file.

Other than that, you could physically remove it to check the numbers on
the TCXO can.

Any word on implementation of the TCXO correction data for those of us who bought the optional unit...or has it already been done
and I missed it?

Re: K3 TCXO

  John,

As I recall, Wayne had promised a firmware routine that will compensate
to 0.25 ppm (or some other number much better than the spec'ed 0.5) at
some time, but I think it is now way down on the list.
I believe there are two reasons for it being low on the list.  First,
the present high stability TCXO more than meets the requirement of 0.5
ppm stated in the K3 specification.  Secondly, there were many requests
that the external reference be implemented as soon as possible, so that
option to increase the stability and accuracy of the K3 was persued
instead of other items on the list.
