Hi all,
Having done the upgrade this morning I thought I would test via my XV144 on FM. It would appear that the transverter is shutting down for some reason after a short over. I have to change bands back and forward again to switch the transverter back on. My initial thought is heat but touching the area of the transverter PA, it is pleasantly warm but certainly not hot. I have tried altering the XVn PWR setting to L0.5mW but the same thing happens. It would also appear that I cannot vary the power output using the PWR control on the K3. The menu info in the manual says I can but not how to do it. Any ideas please as the transverter works really well otherwise and I get good audio reports through the repeater. 73 Ian -- Ian J Maude, G0VGS SysOp GB7MBC DX Cluster Member RSGB, GQRP K2 #4044 |K3 #455 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. When working FM through the XV144, Ian, you will need to keep the power down as the XV144 will not support a 100% duty cycle very long. I also find it a bit of a nuisance having to go into CONFIG:XV1 PWR to reduce the drive rather than being able to do it with the PWR knob. For that reason I have put that menu option into the PF2 preset. I also had my first FM QSO on 2m this morning with my K3/XV144 but you need to keep overs very short or speak softly into the mike ;-) I have had cut-out problems with the XV144 previously when driving it too hard on SSB. Perhaps a small fan might be worth considering. 73 David G4DMP >Having done the upgrade this morning I thought I would test via my >XV144 on FM.
