I'm trying to get a feel for the use of the dBV display available in the K3.
The manual says very little about it; I read the section in KE7X's book and
it shed a little more light on it, but I want to make sure I understand it.
I built some bandpass filters and want to test them out. I set up a test
signal from a 10M QRP transmitter, turned the K3 AGC off, went into the AFV
on the K3 display and let it stabilize, then went to the dBV display, and
got the following data as I changed the filters:
AFV Reading 480
No filter -.4 dBV
10M filter -7.8 dBV
15M filter -13.4 dBV
20M filter -15.3 dBV
I have a good feel for how the filters are performing by using S-meter
readings from on-the-air signals, but wanted to see if there was some
way to use the K3 dBV display as a little more exacting display.
My question at this point is, how do I get from these measurements
to some kind of dB expression for in-band and off-band losses?
