I just downloaded the new K3 Utility 1.2.3.18 OSX version
I downloaded FW Beta 3.11 through my Mac and it worked fine, as before. CONFIG tab showed up all buttons in gray, so I was unable to save my configurations, etc. I never had this problem before. I had tried it immediately after doing my download. TERMINAL tab CW Memories -- I typed in a CQ and it transmitted OK. I can't find how to edit it. Nor could I find a way to save to the Utility memory -- I quit and restarted and my CQ was gone. Nor does it record into the K3 Menu, which is what I really want. Is it supposed to do that? Hi Wendy, > CONFIG tab showed up all buttons in gray, so I was unable > to save my configurations, etc. Are you saying that all of the buttons on the Configuration tab are disabled? I cannot reproduce this. > TERMINAL tab > CW Memories -- I typed in a CQ and it transmitted OK. I > can't find how to edit it. The CW Terminal Memories are edited and saved by selecting "CW Terminal Memories..." under the "Edit" menu at the top of the display. Make sure the "CW" radio button is selected on the Terminal page. These "message memories" (CW, RTTY and PSK) are for storing frequently used messages for use with the terminal. They are not the K3's CW messages described in the Elecraft K3 Owner's Manual. Use "Edit CW Memories" under the Configuration tab to edit and save the K3's CW Memories. Messages typed into the Terminal window itself are not saved upon exit. Yes David. all the buttons on the CONFIGURATION tab are disabled.
Thanks for the instructions on saving CW Terminal Memories. I looked under HELP/ CW memories but found no advice. Is there some form of instructions yet? Windy, > Yes David. all the buttons on the > CONFIGURATION tab are disabled. I just did several firmware loads and went directly to the Configuration tab. All of the buttons were enabled. Next time this happens, try clicking on the buttons anyway and see if they are still functional even though they appear disabled. I'll continue to look into it. There might be a bug somewhere. > Thanks for the instructions on saving CW Terminal Memories. > I looked under HELP/ CW memories but found no advice. Is > there some form of instructions yet? The CW Terminal Memories are described on the "Terminal" Help page and on the "Edit" Menu Help page. The CW Memory Editor (not the same as CW Terminal Memories) is described on the "Edit CW Memories" page in the "Configuration" section of Help. 73, David, W4SMT ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
I got it solved, David. I don't have internet in my "primitive" shack,
so I had downloaded the software in my house, using K3 Utility. Then I closed (to sleep) my Powerbook, walked out to the shack, and connected it to K3. I still had Utility open from before. Apparently, Utility needs to see the K3 when it starts up, otherwise it seems that the Configurations AND the help menu are dead. This time I started Utility while connected to K3. It now works like a charm, loading my CQ perfectly into K3 memory. And the HELP is magnificent. No problem now! Thanks so much. If you start up the application without the K3 turned on or attached,
you don't need to quit the application to get it to talk to the K3. Just turn on the K3 (or plug it into the RS232 adapter), then go to the Port pane and click on the "Test Communications" button. If all is well the Mac will display an alert box telling you so. Close the alert box and go on with your K3 tasks. This is a pretty cool little application.
