K3 VCO Errors

Paul Franson-2
1114 arrived Friday - all went well until I got to the
synthesizer
calibration.  Getting error after the calibration runs
for a brief
period - first get err VCO 00374 , press menu then get
err VC4 00039.
Book says contact support - sent them an email this
morning - while I'm
waiting does anyone else have any ideas on what to
check?

Thanks

Re: K3 VCO Errors

I have almost the same probs on 1118 but mine showed during the synth. calibration the following errors:
first   E00005   -   ERR VCO
then  E00255   -   ERR VC4
I sent an email to support and waiting a reply.
My K3/100 has firmware 2.02 and it is fitted with 2 opt roofing, KXV3 and KBPF3 (the KPA100 is not installed yet).
I checked on the reflector but I'm waiting for the "official" reply. I wish I should not send back any board.

QRX Max and Paul.  There is a firmware update now being tested by Wayne to improve the synthesizer tuning.  I expect it should be released very soon.

Re: K3 VCO Errors - Problem fixed

Max iw0gxy
The problem reported in my previous post has been fixed.
It was my fault because during inspection, before installing the synthesizer board I didn't see a long lead popping out from a quartz. During another inspection i noticed that lead touching the shield.
Well, I trimmed it out and the calibration has finally ended without any error.
I want to thanks Mike AJ9C for his right intuition about the problem.
I wish this could help someone else

Re: K3 VCO Errors - Problem fixed

Thanks guys, I just built my K3 and got the same error 00005 -- and I've been dreaming the past two nights that maybe I missed clipping a lead.  I'll rework tomorrow and try again.  Hopefully with the same good result as you had.  I'll use a magnifier this time.
