My K3, Serial Number 556, is not working properly in the VFO split
mode. I only work CW and when I hold split, the CW speed control light changes to the MIC light. The transmitter will then not key. Switching back to transceive restores the ability to key the transmitter. This happens on all bands except 80, 40, and 30 meters. On these three bands, everything works as it should. This might be a clue, as these are the only bands I normally use. I just found this out today when I went on 20 meters. I usually use split instead of RIT, as I prefer to use the larger knob. My firmware is 02.39 and 01.91. Any ideas? Did I not set up all the bands correctly? Sounds like you have the other VFO on each band set to SSB. That would
change the default mode for that control to Mic Gain from CW Speed. A single tap of A->B only copies frequency. A double tap of A->B copies all other parameters (mode, filter etc.) 73, Eric WA6HHQ Rick Dettinger wrote: > My K3, Serial Number 556, is not working properly in the VFO split > mode. The mode on VFO B is USB or LSB (look at the mode indicator in the LCD while holding the REV button). This is a side effect of the K3's failure to copy the mode to VFO B on the first tap of the A->B button. In order to keep both VFOs on the same mode, you need to tap A->B twice. The first tap copies only the frequency and the second tap copies everything else (mode, filter settings, antenna selection, etc.). The failure to copy mode has been loudly debated several times. 73, ... Yes, that was the case. When I set up the band memories, I didn't
make sure both VFO's were properly set to CW. Since I normally have the display set to real time clock mode, I didn't see the offending USB indicator on VFO B. Thanks for the many correct answers to my problem. That was very quick. A great list. 73 Rick Dettinger K7MW On Sep 22, 2008, at 3:28 PM, Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft wrote: > Sounds like you have the other VFO on each band set to SSB.
