K3? & W3ZZ

John Ragle
Of course it is all legal, but it has nothing at all to do with amateur
radio /*when taken in toto.* /It is a collection of suggestions for
improvements that one can make to a station, concatenated into one large
suggestion. Consider the content:

A minimum of 8 towers ranging around 100 feet ("an extra tower...might
not be a bad idea"), 14 ea. K3s, 6 Kuhne transverters and 4 from Down
East, 12 amplifiers, and tubing to go atop each tower, not to mention
the hardline, the electricity, the acreage, and an army of at least 16
associated rovers, their equipment, and their cars and gasoline.

This has nothing to do with Ham radio as most of us know it, and to take
it /*literally*/ borders on April not June. If taken literally, it
underscores the reason that SSB contests are like ice hockey played with
100 players on a side, or Afghani polo with a human head.

P.S. I don't blame him for liking the K3. I like mine too. Cricket, anyone?

Re: K3? & W3ZZ

Wayne Conrad
I took the article to be a jab at a perceived "arms race" aspect of
contesting, and possibly at contest rules that allow the indirect
conversion of currency into contest points.
