I'm just beginning to work with WSJT/JT65B and I'm running into behavior (versions 7 and 9beta) that I don't understand: as soon as I startup WSJT, the rig goes into TX mode and stays there; I have to kill WSTJ to get the K3 out of TX mode.
The K3's config PTT-KEY option is RTS-OFF. I'm running through a DigiKeyer II and have successfully run WSPR, as well as other digital modes, with the same hardware and software configuration. I believe I have the MicroHam router setup correctly with a single COM port for 2nd PTT. Anybody have an idea why the rig is keying by default? Am I just misunderstanding what I should see when WSJT starts up?

WSJT and JT-65HF open the sound card for output at initialization and do not close the sound device until the program ends. Other, properly written, software opens the sound card when generating sound and closes the sound card when not generating sounds. WSJT/JT-65HF are not compatible with the microHAM "Sound card PTT" since they violate "good programming practice" <G>. I think your problem will go away if you deselect "Sound card PTT" in microHAM Router and make sure to use RTS on a virtual serial port for PTT instead. 73, ... Joe,
Thanks for the response, you were 100% on target! I was a bit lazy, I guess, when I set up the preset for WSJT, and didn't clear the "Sound card PTT" check box on the PTT tab. I'm not 100% clear on WHEN that option would be used in preference to COM port PTT, but, with WSJT it is clearly a problem. WSJT is working great, thanks!!

The Sound card PTT option is useful for software that has no other PTT support - or no means of PTT support *except* CAT commands with rigs that don't support PTT via CAT (e.g., old Icom, etc.). 73, ... Isn't it amazing how many use cases (hardware configurations) a piece of software like the MicroHam router has to support.
Thanks for the help, Joe!
