I enjoy using computer programs with my K3. For, me it adds to the
enjoyment. I've put a video on YouTube showing my setup, if anyone is interested. I find the ability of several pieces of software to operate together to be fascinating. Hi, John,
Excellent job on the video. It answered some questions I had about both Power SDR and N4PY software. It is one of the best amateur radio videos I have watched on Youtube.com. Heck, if you want another career, I think Hollywood is calling. Seriously, great job and very informative. Thanks so much. 73. Nice job on your video John! I just wanted to add a comment regarding spectrum displays. I've used many of these over the years including K6STI's DSP Blaster, Spectran, Winrad, PowerSDR and CW Skimmer. I use these mainly to help identify weak DX or QRP signals to keep my brain from imagining ESP signals that aren't really there! I find the waterfall mode (signal strength vs frequency vs time) to be more useful than the pure spectrum analyzer mode (signal strength vs frequency in real time). A waterfall is good for indicating weak and QSB signals that might otherwise get buried in the visual clutter of a pure spectrum analyzer. I've found CW Skimmer's waterfall works best for me and has a nice interface to the K3. Clicking the yellow encoder dots (see display below) on the right side of the waterfall sends the K3 to the exact frequency once you get it set up correctly. http://dxatlas.com/CwSkimmer/ You can also use the computer keyboard Up and Down arrows to jump from one decoder dot to the next and never need to touch a mouse (handy in contests for fast S&P). Skimmer's "Blind Mode" does not display decoded calls (otherwise using it puts you into an assisted category for many contests). 73, Bill |
Yes interesting, but are the AF/RF controls for VFOB really on the left of N4PY, with the VFOA controls on the right? when the VFOA tune button is to the left of the VFOB buttons?
Seems like a mighty strange layout, I'd have naturally assumed anything for an 'A' was on the left and a 'B' was on the right (unless i read from right to left, which I don't). however, nice vid 73 de M0XDF, K3 #174 The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom. -Isaac Asimov, scientist and writer (1920-1992) On 27 Jan 2010, at 16:44, Bill W4ZV wrote: > > > John Huffman-3 wrote: >> >> You can see the video at - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cefcFcvbmh8 >> ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
