Will my DC h10-40s work on the K3? I am using a David Clark h10-40
aviation headset that I modified with new connector and cable etc to work with my kenwood ts430 rig and it works well with good reports and nice audio in the earphones. I was wondering how well the K3 will work with these, the mic is a 150 ohm noise canceling electret that needs minimum 9V according to DC specs, but seems to work fine using the 8V on the kenwood mic connection. Will the K3 work OK with a mic at just 150 ohms? I realize I'll have to rewire the 8pin mic connector on the headphones since the wiring is a little different than the kenwood with the 8V power is on a different pin on the K3. I love these headphones as they are dead quiet both at the mic with its noise canceling, and in the earphones. Perfect for working in a noisy place like a tent full of loud ops on field day. 73 David Moes VE3DVY ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

All you have to do is go into the setup menu and choose the mic connector you want to use and turn on the bias. The K3 also has an excellent graphic equalizer that can make virtually any decent mic sound great, whether your definition of great is full ham response for rag chewing or narrow, punchy response for maximum talk power. Note that TX and RX response are limited by the crystal filter used for TX and the IF response used for RX. 73, Jim Brown K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

All,
Trying to get my K2/100/KAT-100 operation with N1MM. Bought the Elecraft USB-Serial adapter. Installed the driver from the FTDI web site. Seems to be operational. Connected the cable to the computer (device found, etc). Connected the other end to the radio/antenna tuner serial cable, powered up the radio, and get the "INFO 080" error. Cycled the power, same issue. Also, and the antenna tuner will not power up while the computer cable is connected. The serial cable is the "Y" configuration running from the radio to the tuner and then to the db-9 where the serial- usb converter is connected. Turning off the radio, removing the cable and re-powering the tadio returns the radio to normal ops. I disconnected the antenna tuner portion of the cable and still get the same error. Reconnect everything without the serial-usb converter in the line and all works normally. This is not a stock serial cable. It is supposedly one made especially for this application i.e K2 "special cable". I guess I will start by ohming out the cable. Any other ideas would be appreciated. 73 Gene K1NR K2 6XXX --------------------------------------------------------------------- Web mail provided by NuNet, Inc. The K2 cables are not standard RS-232 cables. They only have pins 2,3,
and 5 connected. This is documented in the manuals, you should review the manuals carefully to make sure you have constructed the cables correctly. INFO 080 according to the manual indicates a problem with the I/O controller or possibly the AUX bus. See appendix E of the K2 manual. I know I'm just telling to you to "RTFM" but the Elecraft documentation is pretty good. You can always download an up-to-date copy of any manual from the Elecraft web site. > Message: 27 > Date: Sun, 02 Oct 2011 09:11:14 -0400 > From: "Eugene Balinski" <[hidden email]> > Subject: [Elecraft] K2 Info 080 Error while attempting computer contro > To: <[hidden email]> > Message-ID: <[hidden email]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="windows-1252" > > All, > > Trying to get my K2/100/KAT-100 operation with N1MM. > Bought the Elecraft USB-Serial adapter. I meant to say, they only have 2,3, and 5 connected at the *computer* end. On Sun, 2011-10-02 at 12:37 -0400, david wrote: > The K2 cables are not standard RS-232 cables. Gene,
An INFO 080 message is caused by a problem on the AUXBUS signal, so pay particular attention to the DB-9 connector pin 6 in the cable. It might be a good idea to open the backshells to see if there is a wire whisker from pin 6 to any other pin, or a broken wire on pin 6. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/2/2011 9:11 AM, Eugene Balinski wrote: > All, > > Trying to get my K2/100/KAT-100 operation with N1MM. > Bought the Elecraft USB-Serial adapter.
